Bowling

Note the guard rails

We took little Dallas bowling last night. He was worried it would be too loud but it ended up not being crowded so the noise wasn't an issue. Thank goodness smoke was not an issue either as they do not allow smoking there. I don't recall most bowling having a "no smoking" policy but it sure was nice! The ball was still too heavy for him to roll between his legs so we used some device for him to push it down. We also had the rails up so there could be no gutter balls! I am not saying that the rails helped Daddy Dallas' score but I just thought everyone should know they could have contributed to his 6 strikes and 2 spares:) I was the cheering section so I did not bowl but it was a fun way to spend some time together on Saturday night.

Dallas and Deepo

Dallas and Poppy on Blue Ridge Parkway
My Dad came last weekend so we could celebrate is birthday together. We drove down to Brevard and then took the Blue Ridge Parkway back to Asheville. The leaves were already browning but we still had a good time and we hope Poppy had a very Happy Birthday on Monday! We headed to Atlanta on Sunday to accompany big Dallas on a business trip. We stayed right downtown and little Dallas and I ventured (via MARTA, you know how he loves trains:) to the Georgia Aquarium on Monday while Daddy was working. The aquarium is really cool and packed full of things to do. We couldn't get to everything because little D wore out after 2 hours but that was plenty for me too. We stopped halfway through for a snack and little Dallas picked a 6 pack of oreo cookies. He only ate the filling and left all of the cookies:) We got together with Scott, Jaclyn, and baby Sam for dinner Monday night and had fun visiting and catching up. On Tuesday we had lunch with my Grandmother Wilkins and celebrated her birthday and then went to visit my Grandmother Jones. They were both excited to see little Dallas and we made it back downtown only 3 minutes late to pick up Daddy right during afternoon Atlanta traffic. Fortunately, with yesterday being Veteran's Day and many people having the day off, the traffic was nothing compared to ususal and we got back to Greenville in time to eat dinner with Bebe and PawPaw, grab the dogs, and head home to Asheville. Thanks to the Glatzer's for having us over and thanks to Bebe and PawPaw for keeping our girls and for dinner!

Saturday, November 01, 2008

Justin, Kellee, and Brianne are here for the weekend. Bebe and Pawpaw came up last night for dinner and for trick or treating. The kids had a great time and they both looked adorable! Brianne enjoyed her first Halloween and Dallas was already coming up with different costume ideas for next year. He says Spiderman but I have a feeling by this time next year that will have changed!

Halloween Parties

Little Dallas had a Halloween party to attend Friday night and we had one Saturday night. His party was at the Asheville Raquet Club where we work out and this is his best friend there, Owen. They had a blast playing with all of the other kids there and watching the Charlie Brown Halloween Movie (I don't know what it is called but I remember watching it myself when I was little). On Saturday, Dallas Sr. and I attended a murder mystery party put on by one his co-workers at their house. It was set in the 1920's and Dallas character was Bernie Bootlegger and I was the daughter, Anne, whose father had been murdered. This is not exactly my kind of thing so I was not as into my character as others were but it was fun to dress up!

Pumpkin Patch

We went to get our pumpkin yesterday and little Dallas wore his Halloween costume. He LOVES it and wants to wear it ALL the time! He is the one who decided he wanted to be a pirate and I think it evolved from a Scooby Doo episode with pirates and from Peter Pan. He loves to tell people that he going to be a pirate for Halloween and then says, "AARRRR Maties!" Hopefully we won't have any costume rips, tear, or stains before we make it to the actual day.

Happy Birthday Noah!

My mom came up for the weekend so we could celebrate her birthday. The leaves are changing here and the weather is perfect. We went to Brevard on Saturday to see two waterfalls while big Dallas was playing in a Volvo golf tournament. We had a great weekend and hope Noah had a wonderful birthday! GO GAMECOCKS!!!

I went last week to visit Coleman and meet little Natalie. She is just beautiful! Coleman looks so great and we had such a good time visiting. Natalie slept almost the whole time and was just an angel.

Dupont State Forest

We went hiking today in Dupont State Forest near Brevard. We hiked to 3 different waterfalls and had lots of fun. We stopped at each waterfall for little Dallas to have a snack. He did great and we only had to carry him some of the way! The leaves are just starting to change. We are looking forward to our first fall here in Asheville. It is such a beautiful place to live and I would not have wanted to spend today any differently!

Happy Birthday Aunt Kellee!

I know I am a day late, but we hope you had a GREAT Birthday!!

Volvo Day

Little Dallas has been sick with a virus since last Thursday. He is finally feeling well enough today(and not contagious) to go back to school. That is why I am just now getting to the blog. Anyway, we still attended the annual Volvo Day party at Camp Ton-a-Wanda in Flat Rock,
N.C. It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed food, canoeing, rock climbing, horseshoes, face painting, and jumping in inflatables. We got home in time to eat dinner and search the internet for live feed of the USC game. We could not get in on television but we found a radio station out of Myrtle Beach broadcasting the game so we listened to it on the computer. I find it very difficult to follow football by only listening to it, so I finished my book while it was going on, but of course we were happy for a win!

First Football Game

We took little Dallas to his first football game last Saturday. We went with Noah, Bebe, PawPaw and The Potter's. We were just a few spaces from Reid and Steve so we got to see them too. He was very excited to go but after a few hours of tailgaiting, the awful heat, no nap, and the noise inside the stadium things changed! He cried and covered his ears and said he wanted to go home. We made it to half-time and he was asleep in my lap with my hands over his ears. He slept all the way back to Noah's house and then we watched the rest of the game. We will try again, but maybe a night game or something later in the season will work better. Here are a few pictures from tailgaiting--I did not take my camera into the stadium so I don't have any from inside. The black and white is just one I took recently that I really liked.
