Christmas 2010

We have had a wonderful Christmas this year. The Jones Family arrived Thursday and we had our first of three celebrations. Dallas Jr. had us line up and march into the living room while yeilding a sword and chanting, "march, march, march" military style. It was a great way to kick off the evening's festivities! There were many presents to open and lots of excitement. Friday we spent the day at home with Uncle Whit in anticipation of the snow that was to arrive Saturday. It sure did arrive and we had a true "white Christmas." We put out our cookies for Santa Christmas Eve and let Dallas and Sterling enjoy one of their own. Sterling took her cookie and started eating it and then reached for another with her empty hand. As you can see in the picture Dallas Jr. was not going to let that happen and he took his pointer finger to hold it down. In the second picture you can see him blocking all the cookies with his whole hand while still enjoying his! Christmas morning the kids opened their presents and Dallas Jr. was very excited that Santa brought him a basketball goal, Star Wars toys, and clothes. Sterling gots lots of clothes, toys, and a new swing for outside. In the afternoon we headed to our third Christmas with the Reeves Family. Dallas Jr. and Brianne played Santa and passed out all of the gifts. The snow was beautiful on the mountain and the kids had fun Sunday morning sledding down the mountain. Thanks to everyone for all of the wonderful gifts and time spent together with family. We hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and many blessings to you all in 2011!

Christmas Play

Little Dallas had his Christmas play last night. They did the traditional Christmas story about the birth of Jesus but it was a different version than I have heard before. He was the preacher who married Mary and Joseph. We put together a costume made of his bath robe, a sweater of mine, a pillowcase, and one of my scarves. He looked cute and did a great job! He posed for a picture with Emma afterwards. This is the girl he gave the bracelet to last week. She really liked the bracelet and gave him a coloring book and a handwritten thank you in return. Of course I was impressed with that. I like her manners for age 5! They have been holding hands and apparently kissed each other on the cheeks. The pictures of Dallas wearing the sequin blue jacket, tie, fedora, and sunglasses were taken last night while he was cutting up before bed. He saw a commercial with some people dancing and singing and snuck off upstairs to put together his own version of what he saw. I was impressed with his creativity and his dance moves. He is such a ham!

Santa Claus

Both kids did great visiting Santa at the mall. I thought Sterling might cry but she was just fascinated by his beard. Little Dallas hopped on his knee with his Christmas list and asked him if he was the "real Santa". Santa said indeed he was, and then little Dallas asked me where the reindeer were. I told him on the roof of the mall and that seemed to satisfy him. One of our other reasons for visiting the mall was to buy a Christmas present for a girl in Dallas' class. He told me he wanted to buy her a ring like mine and even asked if he could give her mine. After explaining why that wasn't going to work and how maybe in the future he could give a girl one of my rings, I told him we could find her a bracelet or a necklace. He settled on a cute silver bracelet with the letter "E" in pink for Emma. He told the saleswoman it was for a girl in his class and with a big grin on his face said, "she might give me a hug for this." The woman thought that was the cutest thing and told everyone else working there. He asked her for a box and when we got home he picked a purple bow to go on the box because he said that was Emma's favorite color. I am hoping to get a picture tomorrow when he gives it to her. I asked him if he wanted to wait until closer to Christmas but he said it was close enough. He also played "Family" with Emma and a few other girls at school last week. I asked him who he was and he said, "the daddy." I said what did you do as "the Daddy?" He said, "I helped the Mommy, that's what Daddy's do!" I was so proud of his answer I could have burst! That is what he see's at home and I am lucky to have a participating husband in daily family life and such a good role model for our kids. Thank you Daddy Dallas!

Baby Shower and Gamecock Football

Big Dallas headed out last Friday with his Dad and a few friends to cheer on the Gamecocks in Atlanta. Even though we didn't win they had a great time. We are still proud of the season the Gamecocks had this year and are glad we were able to get to alot of really good games. The Alabama game was the most memorable for me and I am glad little Dallas got to share in the excitement by being at that one with us!
While the guys were at the game, my Mom, Barbara, Kellee, and I were at my best friends baby shower. Duncan is set to make his debut in February to Reid and Steve. The shower was so nice and she gots lots of cute things! We cannot wait to meet Duncan!!!

Thanksgiving

We spent the weekend in Atlanta for a family reunion and to celebrate my Grandmother Wilkins 90th birthday. We had a great time seeing family we haven't seen in a while. Little Dallas enjoyed a huge ice cream sundae at the Atlanta Athletic Club on Saturday and we got to visit with one of big Dallas' cousins, Chan who is a golf pro there. He took little Dallas out and filmed him swinging the club and then tried to show him where he could improve and what he was doing well. I didn't get pictures of that because Sterling was napping in the car, but it sounds like it was a neat experince for little Dallas. My Grandmother put a nice going away breakfast together for Sunday morning with all her beautiful silver and china. It was quite lovely and we appreciate all the effort she went to. She is going strong for 90 and even wore her Prada heels to lunch on Saturday! I am glad to have such great genes and hope at 90 I will still be rocking high heels too!

Halloween

Little Dallas could not make up his mind this year what he wanted to be for Halloween so he wore 3 different costumes over the 3 days he celebrated. For school he was a Gamecock football player, on Saturday with Brianne and Blake he was Darth Vador and on Sunday, for actual trick or treating, he was the New Green Goblin from Spiderman. Sterling was a lady bug and looked super cute. Brianne and Blake were Tinkerbell and Peter Pan. Of course they were adorable! All the kids had a good time together like they always do. I am glad it is over but Halloween 2010 was definatley a good one.
