Christmas

We had a wonderful Christmas! Little Dallas loves all of his gifts and boy did he get lots of them! We spent time in Greenville with Bebe, PawPaw, MawMaw Reeves and Justin and Kellee. Then we headed to Columbia to see Noah, Poppy, and Uncle Whit. Thanks to everyone for all of the wonderful food and gifts we received! We had a great 2007 and we can't wait to see what 2008 will bring. We already know of lots of babies that will be arriving, including our newest Reeves addition, Brianne. We made it back to the South also and we know we will be sitting right here in Asheville, NC for not only 2008 but many more years after that. Ear Me Dallas Sr.??? We are staying put for a long while!! ( The "Ear Me" is a joke because when big Dallas has to discipline little Dallas he sometimes says" Do you hear me?" at the end. Well little Dallas picked up on that really quickly and now says that to us when he gets upset. It usually goes something like this: "Dallas please don't throw your toys at Harley". Daddy----No-----EAR ME!!! He says ear instead of hear. Of course we don't like for him to say that to us as it is not approprite for him to speak to us like that but I have to cover my mouth everytime so he doesn't see me laughing.)

Merry Christmas!

We hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas! We were all busy little elves today getting last minute things ready for Christmas. Santa is downstairs now putting together the last of the Christmas gifts. I spent the day baking and preparing our Christmas Eve dinner. We have had a wonderful day together and look forward to sharing the next few days with friends and family. We took lots of pictures today and wanted to share them with you all. Little Dallas has become quite independent and likes to dress himself. I was able to get him in a Christmas outfit instead of his usual request of "football shirt" (which is his USC football jersey). But I did give in on his pick for shoes. He LOVES these black and white saddle oxfords. They have no laces and they are too big but he adores them. I baked a coffee cake to go with our big Christmas breakfast tomorrow and he had a great time licking the batter off of the mixers and the bowl. After dinner, he and I made chocolate chip cookies for Santa. I have been telling him for several days that we would do this and he was so excited! We had a great time and both enjoyed eating the dough! We put the freshly baked cookies out for Santa with milk, of course, and little Dallas helped himself to them both. I think he is finally asleep from all of the excitement (and SUGAR) and we are looking forward to another wonderful day tomorrow.

Polar Express Train Ride

Last night we took little to Bryson City, NC to ride a train on The Great Smoky Mountain Railroad. Every year they do a Christmas ride centered around the movie "The Polar Express." Dallas Jr. just discovered the movie while at Bebe and PawPaw's house over Thanksgiving and I think we have watched it everyday since! They encourage all the children to wear their pajamas, just like in the movie. Little Dallas was so excited when he spotted the train. They served hot chocolate, chocolate marshmellow santas, and read The Polar Express book on our way to pick up Santa Claus at the North Pole. Little Dallas spent most of the ride standing in his seat looking out the window so most of my pictures are of the back of him! He spotted Santa out the window and his face just lit up. We stopped so Santa could get on and make his way through all of the train cars to pass out bells to each of the children. We were not supposed to take pictures of him with the flash on our camera so I moved to get an angle where it would not be in his face and blind him with the flash and red eye reduction for the rest of his visits! On our return trip we sang Christmas carols. It was quite an experience and little Dallas really enjoyed it. Santa Claus will most definately be bringing Dallas a train table, train, and all of the accessories for Christmas!

Volvo Christmas Party

Last night Dallas and I attended his company Christmas party. Bebe was SOOO Nice to drive all the way from the beach to stay with little Dallas. It was alot of fun to have a date night and get all dressed up. The party was held at the Grove Park Inn. It is such a beautiful place. There were several hundred people there and we had great time meeting people and dancing. Thanks again Bebe!!! Grandmothers are the best babysitters and we had more fun knowing he was in great hands!! Also thanks for all of your help today hanging pictures and picking out the new colors that will cover some of these quite bright ones we have right now.

Just thought I would share this adorable picture of our little man! We finally got our new computer and Dallas got it all set up today. It is nice to be back online. Maybe I can get some Christmas shopping done now!

Ice Cream Sundae

It has been so long since I have been able to blog. We completely missed Thanksgiving but we had a wonderful time and hope everyone else did as well. We have been so busy trying to settle into our new home. We absolutely love it and we adore Asheville. We have already had lots of visitors and lots of help from them as well. Little Dallas had a little bit of a rough time for the first week but seems to be getting back to normal now. I know it was a huge change for him with the new house, new room, and new big boy bed! The first few nights he kept getting out and it took several times to get him put back in before he would finally fall asleep. Then he would wake up at around 3:oo am and call for me. Now he is sleeping through and we are so proud of him for adjusting pretty quickly. He loves his new room and he now has his own playroom which is great for all of his toys. I am stressing about Christmas. We don't have our tree yet but I hope to get it by this weekend. I don't know how much decorating I will do other than the tree this year but I at least want that up. Big Dallas has been very busy with his new job and is currently traveling. He is really enjoying it even though it is quite stressful right now. Of course that is pretty normal when starting any new job. I have every bit of confidence in him though and I know he will excel at his new position. We are already enjoying being closer to family as we have visited Columbia and are currently in Greenville. We have still not had a chance to buy a computer so I am using Bebe and PawPaw's right now. I know everyone has been anxious for more current photos of Dallas. He will start in his new school in January and until then we get to spend lots of quality time together. He is just so sweet and learning so many new words each day. It seems as though there is an echo in the room everyday. We Made It!

We made it to Asheville late Thursday night. We are in a condo until Tuesday. I asked Dallas if we could take a picture and he ran right over in front of the wall and stood there. I asked him to say "Cheese"! and he did. He is finally getting the hang of this picture thing. We brought little Dallas to Greenville today to stay with BeBe and PawPaw. It will be much easier for us to sign papers at the closing and move in without having to worry about Dallas. Since I haven't been able to post in awhile I missed telling you about our last weekend in Shippensburg. On Friday night we took Dallas bowling. He loved it! We had the bumpers put up in the gutters and they have this stand that you put the ball on and you just let it roll down the lane. His first time up Daddy helped him and he immediately took off down the lane after the ball. Of course he made it about two steps before he fell right on his bottom. He learned that lesson quickly and then would not even let us help him. On Sunday we decided to try and take him to see Bee Movie. We figured the worst that could happen was that we had to leave without seeing the whole thing. We got a large popcorn, candy, and a drink and found our seats. We had to prop him up on our coats because the seat kept flipping up on him. Five minutes in he had the whole thing down. He insisted on keeping the popcorn in his lap and would reach out for the drink or put his hand out for more candy. His eyes were so big as he watched the big screen. He knew to whisper and stay in his seat. We were so proud of him for making it through the whole movie! That is all for now--we have to say goodbye to little D and head back to Asheville.

Update

The movers came yesterday to pack up all of our stuff. They showed up at 8:00 and had the whole house packed by 3:30. It was unbelievable! They did a great job and are back today to load up the truck. Since they moved so quickly, we will be leaving tomorrow instead of Saturday. Little Dallas is holding up okay but we can tell he is definately being affected by all of the changes. When he came home yesterday from school there were boxes everywhere and all of his toys were packed. He seemed very confused and had a difficult time getting to sleep last night. He is being very clingy and keeps repeating Mommy, Daddy, Mommy, Daddy over and over. We are the only thing that is constant right now in this whirlwind of change. I keep telling him his toys will be at his new house in Asheville and that he will have a new room and a new house there. He says, "Asheville, Home!" Fortunately he is young enough to adjust quickly to change but I am still worried about him. I just wanted to give and update. I have to get back to managing the movers and cleaning up behind them. I wish I had pictures but we haven't taken any! I post some from our new house soon!

Computer Troubles

Our lap top crashed on Sunday night so I am currently writing on Dallas' Volvo laptop. It may be awhile until I can post again so I just wanted to let everyone know what is going on. The IT people at Volvo will be able to salvage some of our stuff but we still lost alot of things. I had all of our pictures backed up on cd's so thankfully those are not lost forever. Anyway, it may be awhile until I can post again because we are a little busy to be going out computer shopping right now. The moving company will be here next Tuesday to start packing our things and then they will start loading up on Thursday. We will officially be leaving Shippensburg on Saturday the 17th. I can not even begin to express how excited we are! We close on our new house on Monday the 19th and move in to our new home on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. So many things to be thankful for this year!!!

Happy Halloween!

We actually had Halloween last night. I don't know why, but the borough of Shippensburg decided that the 30th would be the official night for trick or treating. Our dear friend and babysitter, Hebe, came over with her son, Devante. Dallas and Devante each made a pizza for dinner. I was too busy helping Dallas to take pictures during the pizza making but they had a great time. This picture shows the finished product. They made smiley faces with the pepperoni but as you can see they were eating them as they placed them on so some of the pepperoni are missing or half eaten! Once they finished dinner we got them dressed and headed out right at 6:00. Since Daddy Dallas is in Asheville I had to leave the candy bowl sitting out front and hope that no one would help themselves to the whole bowl. Thanks to Devante, Dallas quickly learned how to push the door bell, say "trick or treat", reach out for his candy (he would only let the person hand it to him so he could put the candy in his pumpkin!), and of course say "thank you"! Once we arrived home they plopped right down on the rug in the foyer and dumped out their goodies. Dallas dove right in to a mini bag of m&m's and then I had to take it away. I have never let him have more than one or two m&m's or a hershey kiss so as I expected the whole bag had him bouncing off of the walls! If anyone is wondering what happened to the disco Dallas and the monkey outfits, let me explain. It has been getting in the 30's at night here so there was no way I could keep him warm in the disco outfit without a coat which would have ruined the whole thing. I was disappointed in the monkey costume once it arrived (I ordered it from ebay) because it looked like it could have been a dog, a lion, a bear, or a monkey! Since we have had a Nemo themed year thus far, I found a Nemo costume and I think it was perfect. All of the kids at Dallas' school dressed up today to go trick or treating on the campus. In case you don't know, Dallas attends school at the Child and Family Center on the campus of Shippensburg University. I went to help chaperone and walked right out the door without my camera! They were so cute in their outfits and got lots of candy from the faculty and staff! Thank you to Hebe and Devante for trick or treating with us! We will miss you both when we leave.

We are little late on carving the pumpkin since we have been out of town so much, but we were finally able to get to it this weekend. I have great memories of carving a pumpkin with my family and I had this grand idea in my head that we would have this fun tradition to start with Dallas. We gathered up newspaper and all of the other supplies and headed out to get started. Little Dallas could have cared less so Daddy Dallas did it all on his own. I was able to snap a few cute pictures but in between little Dallas was hiding behind the tree and running around the yard. I am not giving up on starting the tradition just yet, but we will have to see how things go next year before we decide! The remainder of the weekend was spent in the basement. When we moved to Shippensburg, we did not have a yard sale before we left SC and said we would do it when we got here. We ended up with a house that has a huge basement so we had a "good" place to hide all of our junk! We decided we were absolutely NOT moving it again so we finally went through lots of boxes filled with stuff. I have no idea why we had kept so many things this long. There were old cell phone boxes with instructions, lots of computer things, books, school papers, tons of pens, clothes, pool supplies and equipment and lots and lots of cords! There were phone cords, cable cords, cords to stero equipment that we no longer have and to computers we no longer have. I do not consider either of us pack rats but you would not have believed it seeing all of that stuff! We also came across old pictures from our childhoods, things from our wedding (like my bouquet made from bows to use for the rehersal), our beloved dog Fancy's collar (which made me tear up), and the stork that was in our yard greeting us when we arrived home for the first time with our precious son. Even though it was alot of work it was kind of fun to see what treasures may be in each box. We hauled everything up to the garage and I will be arranging it this week for a yard sale next weekend. I know it is cold for a yard sale but SC has nothing on PA as far as yard sales go! They have them all of the time, everywhere, every day of the week.
