Phoenix, Here I Come!

Dallas left last Friday to go to Phoenix, so my parents and my brother came up to spend the weekend with us. I had planned to go to dinner each night and to The Nature Center on Saturday, but on Friday evening little Dallas informed us that he had a "boo boo ear". I knew he had a cold and was treating it with over-the-counter medication that the pediatrician okayed. He has always been prone to ear infections so I was not really surprised. Mom and I took him to the Dr. on Saturday morning and he did indeed have an ear infection in one ear and redness in the other. Although none of my plans were able to be kept, we had a nice time visiting together. Whit and I were able to make a late movie one night and we all rode in the Seqouia on the Blue Ridge Parkway one afternoon while little Dallas rested comfortably in his carseat watching a movie. On Sunday Bebe and PawPaw came to visit and pick up Angel and they ended up taking little Dallas home! Daddy Dallas called and asked if I would like to join him in Phoenix. I am not very good at being spontaneous, as I am a natural born planner, but I decided to try and live a little so I said okay! I quickly packed a suitcase for little Dallas and we booked my flight leaving the next day. We just returned home this evening and had a wonderful time. We stayed at a beautiful resort called The Arizona Biltmore Resort and Spa. It was designed by a Harvard graduate who studied under the famous architect, Frank Lloyd Wright. Irving Berlin wrote many songs there including "White Christmas" and Marilyn Monroe called it her "favorite pool". It was too cold to enjoy the pool and I didn't write any Christmas carols, but we still had a great time. Everyone was buzzing about the Superbowl and CBS was at the resort all week setting up for the festivities. Little Dallas gave us the best smile upon our return home and we cannot thank Bebe and PawPaw enough for taking care of him (especially at the last minute). I do not have one picture to show for anything is this post but I will try and get some this weekend.

I LOVE THIS!!!

Once a month the ladies in our new neighborhood get together for a ladies night at someone's house. Last night was the first one I attended. It was great to meet everyone and have some time with the girls. We haven't been here long enough to really start making friends yet so I was so looking forward to this evening. My neighbor, Jennifer, came by to get me and as we left out the front door to walk across the street, we said goodbye and I left little Dallas with Daddy for the evening. We had a great time and when I returned home these pictures are what transpired after I left. I have to say that I absolutely LOVED seeing them. I know he is upset and crying, but I needed to see that he missed me that much. He is trying so hard to become independent and won't let me help him do anything. All day I hear, "No Mommy" as he climbs on the potty to use it and won't even let me in the bathroom. (I have to stand in the hallway.) Or as he walks upstairs, climbs in the truck to his carseat, puts on his clothes, brushes his teeth and many other activities throughout the day. Of course I want him to be independent so I know I am complaining about something that is actually good, but it just means he doesn't need me so much anymore and that hurts. Anyway, I was so happy that Daddy Dallas took these pictures so I can see how much I really do mean to little Dallas.

Happy Anniversary!

We would like to wish Bebe and PawPaw a Happy 40th Anniversary! It is actually Monday but they will be in Hawaii so we wanted to wish them well before they leave tomorrow. We will take good care of Angel and we hope ya'll have a wonderful time. Congratulations on 40 years! I took this picture of little Dallas sleeping last night. Bebe brought him the little bear yesterday and he has not put it down. He calls it my "polar bear". He now has 6 things that have to be in the bed with him to go to sleep. His Nemo blanket, Fancy(another blanket named for our precious daschund that passed away), a sheep that Noah brought him from Scotland, a cow Poppy bought him from a trip to the zoo, his new bear, and a bigger bear with an outfit on that Bebe sewed from leftover fabric we used in his nursery. We will have to get a bigger bed if this keeps up!

Snow Day!

We got about 3 inches of snow last night so there was no school today. Dallas went in to work late as well so we were able to enjoy some time outside with little Dallas in the snow. He had a blast sliding down his slide and tromping through the snow. Dixie looked almost as cute as Dallas in her coat.

We had a really nice weekend where there was nothing that we HAD to do. It was the first weekend since we have been here that daddy Dallas did not have to go into the office to work. He did work briefly from home and it was so nice to have him here all weekend! We met Bebe and PawPaw in Hendersonville on Saturday for lunch and shopping and it was so much fun. PawPaw bought Dallas this whistle and he really loves it. He calls it "choo choo" whistle.

First Day at New School

Today was Dallas' first day at his new school here in Asheville. After an 8 week period of being spoiled at home with Mommy to take care of his every need and to sleep in he was not a happy camper this morning. We have been talking to him about going to school and making new friends but he has just ignored us. Yesterday I kept telling him that he had school tomorrow and he would say, "No school Mommy!" He did not eat one bite of breakfast and they do not have a morning snack so I was so worried that he would be hungry. The look on his face as I snapped this picture walking out the door says it all! After about 20 minutes of not leaving my side he spotted a train and made his way over to it. I hugged him goodbye and told him I would be back after lunch and had to force myself to let go of him, get up, and walk out the door with him crying and running behind me. The teacher scooped him up and I headed out. I was really looking forward to him being back in school so that he could play with others and I could have some time to get things done, but it was so hard to seperate this morning. It was such a sweet feeling when I picked him up though and when I asked him if he had fun at school he said, "yes mommy!"

Fun in the Snow

We had a great New Year's with Justin and Kellee. We ate lots of food and watched lots of football. Daddy had to go back to work today and Justin and Kellee headed back to Raleigh so the house seems really empty. It snowed last night so before they left today we took little Dallas out to play. He had a good time but it was REALLY cold and windy. According to the local weatherman it feels like -4 today. I thought we left all that behind in Pennsylvania!
