Merry Christmas

The cookies are made, the milk is out, and the reindeer food is on the back porch! The only problem is our lights stopped working on the tree. I went to plug them in and they would not come on. Daddy Dallas said it would take a Christmas miracle because he was not going to re-string the tree tonight with new lights! Oh well. Little Dallas is soooo excited he doesn't mind the lights not working! It is raining here so he was a little worried about Santa getting wet but we assured him Santa was an old pro at delivering gifts in all kinds of weather. We hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas!!

Trip to Charlotte

We went to Charlotte last Sunday for a Christmas lunch with the Robert's family (that's BeBe's family). It was great to see everyone and thank you to Aunt Carol and Jerry for hosting at their house. We appreciate all the gifts and hope everyone has a Merry Christmas!

Christmas Program

Dallas Jr. had his school Christmas program on Thursday. BeBe and PawPaw came up to watch it with us and then have dinner. They sang three songs and did such a great job! He was right in front and sang all the words and did all the hand movements too. We were so proud!! On Friday we had a luncheon for all the kids and parents (about 250 people). School is out now until January 5th. He already says he misses his friends. He says his best friends are Davis and Bryson. Bryson is the REALLY tall boy next to him in the pictures of the performance. He makes Dallas look really small, but actually he is just really tall! (at least that is the way I see it). Davis is in the picture with Dallas standing in front of the window. As for girls, he likes Sarah Ann and Lauren. Sarah Ann is next to him on the stage and Lauren is the only girl in the photo taken in their classroom. He told me Thursday night that he had an idea. When I asked him what is was, he said he wanted to have a birthday party with presents at the North Pole. He said we would take a sleigh to get there and that he would hold me so I wouldn't fall and bump my head. He also said he wanted all his friends from school to be there along with Taylor and Miley. In case you don't know who I mean when I say Taylor and Miley, that would be country singer Taylor Swift and pop singer Miley Cyrus. He LOVES them! I love this age--they say the funniest things and you just wonder where they come up with it. Thank you BeBe and PawPaw for coming and for his gifts. He loved the Rudolph nose so much he just had to wear it school on Friday for the luncheon. I never did get a picture of his whole class or him with his teachers but we still have a few months to go.

We had such a great weekend. On Friday we drove to Atlanta with BeBe,PawPaw, Aunt Kellee, and Brianne to go to the Reeves Family Christmas Party. Thank you so much to Chan and Toni for hosting! The house is beautiful and so are your girls! They were so sweet with little Dallas and the next day he asked, "where are the pretty girls?" It was great to visit with everyone and afterwards we headed back to stay in Greenville for the night. On Saturday, we had some friends come over for dinner with their new baby and enjoyed a delicious dinner prepared by big Dallas of tilapia, asparagus, and angel hair pasta with a picatta sauce. Our favorite babysitter came over to watch little Dallas upstairs so we could all catch up and have uninterrupted conversations. Coleman, Michael, and Natalie--thanks for driving up from TR to visit! On Sunday we had such a lazy day. We took little Dallas to see the movie Bolt, slept, and watched t.v. The weekend ended perfectly for me last night while I was taking a bath and big Dallas brought me a glass of wine and a bowl of cookie dough to enjoy in our jetted tub. (Little Dallas and I made cookie dough and never baked the cookies. Big Dallas did bake some of them because he prefers to eat them as actual cookies, but I prefer to eat the dough!) Santa at the Mall

We had a busy weekend. On Saturday night Dallas Sr. and I attended the Volvo Christmas party at the Crown Plaza in downtown Asheville. We had a really nice time and it was fun to get dressed up. Little Dallas stayed here with Miss Betsy, his sitter, and they made a snowman Christmas ornament and played with all his trains. It is so nice to have a great sitter! Thanks Miss Betsy! On Sunday, we braved the mall to go see Santa. Little Dallas was very excited to see him and told him all the things he wants for Christmas. That list consisted of trains, cars, trucks, and pirate ships. It got more specific than that, but I won't list each item:) After seeing Santa Claus we walked around a bit and little Dallas decided he wanted to do this bungee jump thing they have at our mall. They harness them in and then they can jump really high and do flips and stuff. He watched some older kids go and informed us that he did not want to do any flips. I thought he would get scared of going so high, but you can see from his face that he really enjoyed it. He kept laughing and saying,"my tummy tickles." So I suppose I will be paying $6 everytime we go to the mall now so he can jump on this thing. They have it placed right in the middle so there is really no way to avoid walking by it.

Thanksgiving in Maryland

I know I am late on Thanksgiving but this has been a busy week. We spent Thanksgiving with our friends, Tom and Virginia, and their two boys Rowan and Aidan at their house in Charlestown, MD. It is right on the Chesapeake Bay and is very beautiful but quite cold during this trip. Justin, Kellee, and Brianne joined the party too and we had a full house with 4 kids! Dallas and Rowan had alot of fun playing together and I got sick of saying the word, "share" but they did great. In addition to enjoying a big Thanksgiving meal together, Virginia had the boys finger paint and make sugar cookies. They were so cute getting all messy and I was really glad it was her house and not mine:) She even let them clean up and do the dishes afterward. She is a brave woman. Hopefully I learned a little from her and maybe can lighten up with the whole mess thing. We don't even have finger paints in our house, but I am trying to convince myself to go buy some. The highlight of the trip for little Dallas was going to Strasburg, PA to ride on a train. He calls it the "Smoke Train" and he had such a great time. We bought him a souvenir train and he has taken it everywhere, including to school today for "show and share." Tom and Virginia got a sitter for Friday night and we put all the kids to bed by 8:30 and headed out for a parents night out. We had lots of fun and would like to thank Kellee and Virginia for saving us from a collision with a deer. Virginia spotted it and Kellee hit the brakes just in time as the deer passed RIGHT in front of the truck. Saturday was spent recovering and watching the Carolina/Clemson game which I have no comment about. We left Sunday at 9:45 and pulled in our driveway that night at 9:50. Little Dallas was trooper in the car. He watched several movies and we sang songs. Thanks to the Gatch's for hosting all of us! It was alot of fun.

We took little Dallas bowling last night. He was worried it would be too loud but it ended up not being crowded so the noise wasn't an issue. Thank goodness smoke was not an issue either as they do not allow smoking there. I don't recall most bowling having a "no smoking" policy but it sure was nice! The ball was still too heavy for him to roll between his legs so we used some device for him to push it down. We also had the rails up so there could be no gutter balls! I am not saying that the rails helped Daddy Dallas' score but I just thought everyone should know they could have contributed to his 6 strikes and 2 spares:) I was the cheering section so I did not bowl but it was a fun way to spend some time together on Saturday night.
