First Day of School

Dallas had his 2nd first day of 4 year old kindergarten last week. We decided to have him repeat it so he would be the oldest in his classes going forward instead of the youngest. He did great. He has 2 new teachers this year and a class full of new students (21 in all!) It is the largest class his school has ever had. The teachers have given him some responsibility since he knows what to do and he has embraced his new leadership role. He is helping to make sure the other kids do things the way they are supposed to (wash hands when they arrive, get their name clips, stand in single file line). He was also the "Line Leader" all last week for walking to the playground etc. Of course that means he gets to be first in line and don't we all love that! There is a boy in the class who is diabetic and has to wear a pump and check his blood sugar daily. They explained all this to the class and apparently Dallas was fascinated and asked tons of questions. Then the next day he came running in our room before it was time to wake to make sure we got to school early so he could watch as they checked the boy's blood sugar. He raced through breakfast and got himself dressed without me having to ask repeatedly. I am pleased of his interest and curiosity in all things medical (which for him consists of boo boos' and blood sugar checks.) Of course, as his Mother, I am taking this to mean he will be a Doctor one day!

On the Move!

Sterling started crawling about one week ago. She seems to be enjoying her new found freedom and no longer wants to be "contained" in an exersaucer. A favorite destination is my stacks of magazines on the bottom level of the coffee table. She pulls them all out and then chews on them. She loves to put everything in her mouth so we have to be really careful with what gets left out.

Little Dallas is enjoying his last few days before school starts next week. This picture of the two of them is a typical morning with him laying on the sofa watching a movie in his pajamas.

Happy Birthday Dallas!!!!

Little Dallas turned 5 yesterday! We took him to Carowinds on Saturday and he had so much fun!! It was HOT and pretty crowded but he didn't notice. The roller coaster and the water rides were his favorite. We headed back to Columbia where Noah had kept Sterling for the day and had his first of 2 parties. The spider on his face was the last thing we did at Carowinds. Thank you Noah for watching Sterling and to Poppy for the cake and to both of you for all his great gifts. His 2nd party was on Sunday with the Reeves Family. He picked out a baseball themed party since he starts t-ball in September. Thank you all for coming and for all the presents. He really had a great time and loves all the gifts!

9 Years!

Dallas and I celebrated our 9th wedding anniversary on August 4th! Seems like it wasn't that long ago that we were celebrating with friends and family during the wedding and reception. (That really was a fun party I must say!!) We are already planning for next year to celebrate 10 years in an exotic location with no kids, a beach, and drinks with umbrellas in them!!!

Little Dallas took this photo of us. He is becoming quite the photographer and only wants to use my Canon Digital Rebel. He told us how to pose and kept getting mad at big Dallas when he did silly stuff--so cute. He has been on the other side of the camera enough that I think he was really enjoying telling us what to do!

Litchfield and Garden City

We are finally settling back in after spending almost 2 weeks at the beach. We had such a great time! We swam alot, ate alot, and played putt putt alot. Little Dallas had a blast. He was not scared of the ocean at all this year. He jumped waves, caught some waves on his new boogie board, and wanted to go out deep just past where the waves break to float over them as they came in. He had fun picking up shells and making lots of holes in one at putt putt. He was telling everyone around us that he got a hole in one. He really did get 8 in the 3 times he played! Sterling really likes the water and had fun playing in the sand. I just couldn't let her do it much because she was taking handfulls of it to her mouth. She enjoyed her morning nap in the stroller on the beach. She is so close to crawling it could literally be any day now. We had lots of great meals and lots of ice cream. We helped Uncle Whit celebrate his 27th birthday and surprised him with a cake after dinner at the Gulf Stream Cafe in Garden City. Thank you to Poppy and Noah for the great beach trips and wonderful memories!
